COMBINED TEST BENCH

The combined test bench is used to perform the twist test and the sway test in line with EN 14363, UIC 505.5 and APTA PR-M-S-014-06. The combined test kit is portable by design so as to support the execution of the test across the sites and/or regions; making it flexible for the global needs of projects.

This combined bench shall act as a common bench which shall be capable of performing both sway test (“souplesse” coefficient, lean tests) & twist test (wheel unloading, wheel equalization ) using a similar set up.

As per EN: 14363 there is a requirement of Twist Test Rig for static test (Method-2 & Method-3 of First Stage assessment) of new and significantly modified rolling stocks for measurement of wheel unloading, change in vertical wheel force (∆Q/Q) due to twist induced while entering / exiting a curved track. For Method 2, Running on an instrumented flat track, with150m radius and no cant is necessary to evaluate the guiding Y forces. For Method 3, it is necessary to determine the bogie yaw resistance on small-radius curves and calculate the bogie X-factor between the bogie and the car body by means of torque measurement.
